QM: Annie Sen Gupta
After a hiatus of 2 years Music Quiz was back with a bang, special
thanks goes to Annie who agreed to conduct it knowing it would
be his 3rd quiz in a row after the 2 monthlies. Annie is a Man of Focus, Commitment, Sheer Will and lots of free time apparently.
As usual the prelim was split in 2 parts, Eastern and Western. Teams were formed according to their scores in each section so that a balance of people with knowledge of different genres could be achieved in each team and as you will see from the final scores it worked out pretty well with all the teams spread out across just 30 points .
The Finals constituted 5 rounds
1) Written Round
2) Direct Qs on infinite bounce
3) Connect Round
4) Direct Qs on infinite bounce and pounce
5) Four clues to ID the element
All the teams were
pretty close to each other throughout the quiz but in the end the well endowed better team won. Let me end the report with a quote by Ghalib for all the losing team "Haar ke bhi jitne wale ko Quizzer kehte hai", you may have lost the quiz but you have won a lifetime of regrets for not remembering some easy stuff or not pouncing on Qs you were pretty sure of.
Results
1st Place: Team V (Doc Chandrashekhar Rao, Lucano Alvares, Ira Prem, Aastha Dua) - 160 Points
2nd Place : Team I (Kaivalya Karkare, Rajiv D'Silva, Parind Phadte, Kanchan Desai, Rohan Narvekar) - 150 Points
3rd Place : Team III (Srijit Kumar, Vilas Pavithran, Sanjay Parab, Viola Rodrigues, Omkar Churi) - 135 Points
4th Place: - Team II (Shashwat Salgaoncar, Mayur Shett, Nathan Moniz, Sulochana) & Team IV (Anjali Sen Gupta, Melchior Teles, Raunaq Neogi, Archana Desai) & Team VI (Ajay Poonia, Ajey Patil, Pallavi Dhakne, Anant Prabhu, Shradhha Narvekar) - 130 Points
