Covid Strikes Again!

Due to the resurgence of the damned coronavirus in Goa, SEQC live quizzes are suspended again. We'll be back once things are back in control somewhat.

Menages a Trois - 31/Jan/2021 - pix and videos

Start 'em young: Akira attends her first quiz!

Menages a Trois - 31/Jan/2021 - results and content

Bumper turnout at the Menages a Trois event on Sunday, January 31 – a total of 49 people took the written Round 1 of the quiz. Four teams went through to the projected rounds. The finish could not have been closer – two letters in one of the answers separated the team ambitiously named "And In First Place" from first place, and pushed them down from that position to third, half a point behind Team Chicken Dinner. In the melee, Team Ashralu took the help of Walter Matthau to sneak through to top spot.

Announcing Ménages à Trois

Here's a way out of self-isolation – become part of a threesome. Ménages à Trois is a quiz for trios, to be held at the International Centre Goa (ICG) on January 31, starting 5pm. Annie Sen Gupta (me, that is) will be the QuizMaster.

The quiz format will involve written prelims and projected finals (we are constrained by the outdoor requirement, which prevents us from getting to the projected stuff till after sunset).

It will be for pre-formed teams of 3 (so you can team up with people whom you are comfortable having in your close proximity), with the stipulation that each team has to have at least 1 male and 1 female (and no cross-dressing this time!)

The other constraint is that any team can have only one from among the following seeded participants (let's call it the Elite group) -- Ajey, Doc Shekhar, JK, Nitish, Rajiv, Shashwat (if he happens to be around), Srijit, Vilas. Teams that have none of these members will be allowed a fourth wheel.

Please register your teams by emailing the names to seqcgoa@gmail.com by midnight on Friday the 29th of January.

Try and convince someone of the opposite sex in your family or circle of non-quizzing friends to come along. The cult is always looking for new recruits. If you can't form a team, send an individual registration, and I'll try and put you together with two/three others on the day of the quiz.

Live quizzes in January

SEQC will officially kick off its new season (#13, after an extended Year 12) this month, with the BiG Q on Sunday the 17th. This will, as always, be a solo written quiz, aimed at identifying the awkwardly but appropriately named Best-in-Goa Quizzer. The quiz will run from 5pm onwards, and have Rajiv D'Silva as QuizMaster.

Later the same evening, once darkness falls, Annie Sen Gupta will run a version of Akela, another solo quiz, but this time off a projected set of questions (which means with visuals, audio, and video content).

A fortnight later (on the 31st), we will try our hand at the first of our quizzes since Covid struck to have teams. Called Ménages à Trois, this will be a quiz for pre-formed teams of 3, but with certain conditions that will be announced at a suitable date and time.

If we don't all immediately add to the Covid numbers in the state after that, we will then take a call on how to deal with February.
