The first quiz of Year 4 will be a celebration of sorts. Firstly, we'll all engage in some mutual back-slapping for keeping SEQC going through an unbroken three years of quizzing. Secondly, we'll applaud Annie for retaining his SEQC Champion crown, and plot ways and means to foil him next year. (I have already received one suggestion to spike his drink with something nasty on the eve of a quiz). And thirdly, we'll all breath a collective sigh of relief that we're back to the 5 pm timing and don't have to quiz at the expense of our precious Sunday afternoon siestas (I know at least one of us who'll say that's the main reason to celebrate).

World Quizzing Championships
Close on the heels of Mahaquizzer comes its global version - the World Quizzing Championships. Organized by the International Quizzing Association, the event this year will see over 2000 contestants in 70 cities across 30 countries vie for the title of the World's Best Quizzer.
Date: 4th June 2011
Time: 3.30 pm.
Format: The quiz will consist of 8 written question papers of 30 questions each, to be answered in two 1-hour sessions with a 10-minute break in between. For an idea of what the quiz will be like, head to the IQA site.
Venue: Zuari Hall, International Centre Goa, Dona Paula - Panaji.
Participation: Open to all. This is a solo event. Participants must register beforehand by sending an email to seqcgoa@gmail.com. Last date for receiving registrations is 3rd June 2011 at 5.30 pm. Spot entries will be accommodated depending on availability of question papers and seating space.
